9:30 - 10:25 - Panel 1: Complete Streets: Building Support and Achieving Results What makes a street complete and how do we get there? From the basics to best practices, learn how to make your local roads safe and accessible for all. In this session you'll hear about Complete Streets initiatives from experienced practitioners who have overcome a variety of challenges to build consensus and advance polices and projects from concept to completion.Speaker: Leigh Ann Von Hagen, AICP, PP, Managing Director and Adjunct Professor with the Voorhees Transportation Center at the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.
As a licensed professional planner, Leigh Ann has over 20 years of experience in transportation and land use planning, specializing in creating healthy, active communities for all ages and abilities through design, research, education, and training. Leigh Ann manages the NJ Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes and Bicycle and Pedestrian Resource Centers and the New Jersey School Crossing Guard program. She also conducts training on Health in All Policies and serves on the Morris County Trail Program Advisory Committee.
Speaker: Jennifer Duckworth, Senior Environmental Engineer with Tetra Tech and founder of the Millburn Pedestrian Safety Committee
Specializing in stormwater permits and green infrastructure, Jennifer manages stormwater compliance for municipal and industrial facilities, writes and edits hazard mitigation plans and technical documents, manages contracts, supports trainings and meetings, and designs outreach and education materials. She serves on the Essex County Environmental Commission, on the Jersey Water Works Green Infrastructure Subcommittee, and as trustee of the Rahway River Watershed Association. Solving problems through engineering, policy, and science, she spearheaded the Millburn Pedestrian Safety Advisory Board and Millburn PTOC School Safety Committee to improve communications with the municipality and schools and to streamline programs for success with grant opportunities.
